Prayers Every Child Should Know

Why should we take the time to teach our kids to pray?

Because Prayer is the Communication with our God!

Without prayer we are like a candle without a flame, a fish without water, a plant without sunlight...we become empty and lost...

No wonder many adolescents and young adults feel lost during our time, despite the difficulties life may bring us, prayer is our boat across the turbulent waters of life. Yet, many parents have not passed this wonderful gift to their children.

Teaching children to pray is a GIFT that will last their whole lives! As parents it is our Christian responsibility to raise our children in Faith and teaching them to PRAY is a wonderful way to grow in our own Faith too.

These are the prayers that every Catholic child should know (and love) by the time they receive their First Holy Communion. They will remain a Spiritual touchstone throughout their lives. It is never too late!

Morning, evening, at home, in the car …. everywhere and anytime is a teachable moment for prayer. It may be the MOST lasting GIFT you can give your child.

Here are resources and tips to teach your child to pray:

"Praying with your child is a vital part of their faith journey.

Whether you are a parent, godparent, aunt, uncle or sibling, introducing your child to a life of prayer is arguably the biggest gift you can give them, because you are teaching them how to communicate with their creator.

It’s a big responsibility, but don’t let that put you off."
